A Great Memory Spoiled.

A Message to My kids on Memorial Day…

Please remember the Ol’ Man (My Dad) today…33 years active military service, D-Day survivor, two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, France’s Jubilee of Liberty Medal, Two Legion of Merits and 25 other medals for Combat Bravery and Leadership.
Rarely did he wear his Dress Blues, but when he did, his rows of medal citations, chevrons for overseas and combat duty, and other outward symbols of a great warrior and defender of our precious way of life, made him look, ironically, like a third-world dictator.
Without him here, we need to honor the memory of a good and decent soldier.

Today, when I think back to Memorial Day and what sacrifices real patriots made in defense of their country, I cannot help but bring to mind our current President’s responses to his military sacrifice and service to this country.

Trump’s answer to sacrifice:  “I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard. I’ve created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures. I’ve done, I’ve had tremendous success. I think I’ve done a lot,” he said to George Stephanopoulos.

With respect to avoiding the draft 5 times during the Vietnam War, Trump, while being interviewed by radio host, Howard Stern, likened service in Vietnam to the risks associated with dating potentially STD-infected women in the Manhattan dating scene, “It is a dangerous world out there,” observed Trump, “It’s like Vietnam, sort of.

STERN: “Hey it’s your personal Vietnam isn’t it?”                                                                                                                  TRUMP: “It is my personal Vietnam.  I feel like a great and very brave soldier!”

That’s the true “Metal” of the man…the “patriot”…who serves this country as President.

How would you like being in a foxhole with Trump?

Sad.  Repugnant.  Offensive.
